About Us
City of Refuge Point of Impact (CORPOI) is the community development arm of First Church of God. After 10 years of dedicated community service CORPOI engaged in a process of refocusing, revising, and rebuilding it’s infrastructure while maintaining its foundation, mission, and vision. It’s name speaks to the organizations belief that community can truly be impacted when faith-based entities are activities participates in community revitalization.
Mission
To empower disadvantaged and at- risk individuals to improve their economic, educational and social status by creating and promoting opportunities for affordable housing, education, health care, and employment.

Vision Statement
The City of Refuge Point of Impact is an entity that has been in existence for over 15 years serving the greater Columbus community in varied and unique ways. This organization began as part of my vision for our church to have a more powerful role and impact in the near eastside, and the greater community-at-large, by using the resources of our church to solve issues confronting our neighbors and members. Because I have always believed that the church exists for the community in which it stands, and that we are to operate beyond just Sunday morning, we sought to find ways that we could have a holistic approach to serving others and meeting needs not then being addressed.
In the years since our founding, we have seen tremendous success with our tutoring and mentoring programs; summer camps; drug and smoking prevention; and safety programs. Our success has not been without challenges and there have been times when we felt as if we were "making bricks without straw." Yet, despite and sometimes because of those challenges, we have been able to master creative ways and means to accomplish our goals. I still believe, all these years later, that the church has both a unique calling and responsibility to serve and service its community, and I am still fully committed to CORPOI, because I know the difference we are making.
